Annual Forage (AF)
The Annual Forage (AF) pilot program provides coverage to acreage which is annually planted for forage or fodder with the intended use including, but not limited to, grazing, haying, grazing/haying, grain/grazing, green chop, grazing/green chop, or silage. This program utilizes the Rainfall Index to correlate to this acreage.
The Rainfall Index-Annual Forage Insurance Plan is designed to give maximum flexibility to the rancher. Producers are able to divide their liability into two-month index intervals targeting when precipitation is important for the crop being planted. You may select only one coverage level for the county, from 70-90%. Coverage may be increased or decreased by a productivity factor. Two separate growing seasons are provided. CAT coverage may be available.
